Workshops & Events

We’re very happy to welcome Michael James Wong back to Zurich this May. Known for his thoughtful and precise approach to practice, Michael brings a depth of experience that bridges movement, breath and philosophy in a way that feels both grounded and relevant. As the founder of Krama Yoga, Just Breathe and Teachers Practice, his work continues to shape how yoga is shared and experienced today. During his visit, he will be offering two workshops, an evening breathwork session, and joining our teacher training as a guest teacher. To create more space for this experience, all sessions will take place at a dedicated guest location, you’ll find all details below.

Name: FAST Inversions (EN)

Guest location: BLG Sports / Heinrichstrasse 243

Date: Friday, 15. May, 2026

Time: 09:00-12:00

Price: 79 CHF / SIGN UP

A nuanced exploration of inversions beyond the shape itself. This workshop is designed for curious yogis who want to move past formulaic progressions and into a deeper understanding of how inversions actually work. Through the interplay of structure, strength, perception, and individual capacity, Michael will share his FAST method for inversion practice. Rather than focusing on how to 'do' specific poses, this session invites you to refine how you see inversions: how bodies organise in space, how force is distributed, and how breath, awareness, and nervous system response shape the experience of going upside down. You'll explore the underlying principles that inform all inversion work, allowing you to approach the practice with greater clarity and adaptability. The goal is simple, for inversions to become less about achieving positions, and more about understanding relationships-between effort and ease, stability and mobility, confidence and control.

Name: Not So Wild Thing: Intelligence of Spine (EN)

Guest location: BLG Sports / Heinrichstrasse 243

Date: Friday, 15. May, 2026

Time: 14:00-17:00

Price: 79 CHF / SIGN UP

Join Michael for a practice that explores the intelligence of the spine and the subtle balance between strength and spaciousness. This session moves beyond simply "opening" into backbends, inviting you to understand how the body distributes effort, creates support, and finds length without collapse.

Through progressive sequencing, you'll work with shoulder integration, thoracic mobility, and the coordination required to move into shapes like Wild Thing with control and clarity. Rather than forcing depth, the practice emphasises organisation-how to stabilise where needed, soften where possible, and transition with intention. This is a thoughtful, layered approach to backbending that builds both awareness and resilience. Ideal for dedicated students and teachers looking to refine their understanding of spinal movement, shoulder mechanics, and the quality of their transitions.

Name: Masterclass with focus on Safe Backbends / Functional Vinyasa Flow (EN)

Guest location: Yoga Nest Zentrum

Date: Friday, 29. May, 2026

Time: 18:30-20:00

Price: Regular class pass or abo / SIGN UP

This 90-minute masterclass is a functional vinyasa flow designed to explore backbends in a safe, mindful, and sustainable way. Rather than forcing shapes, we will gradually learn how to create spinal extension without collapsing into the lower back—a common pattern that often leads to compression and discomfort. Through a progressive and intelligent sequence, we will train the body to support backbending from a functional perspective: strengthening the spinal extensors, opening the hip flexors, and creating more space and mobility in the shoulders. By distributing the work throughout the whole body, backbends become lighter, more accessible, and truly supportive. The focus of this class is on easeful and beneficial backbends: postures that feel good in the body and can be practiced with awareness and longevity. We will explore how to work with the body rather than against it, developing strength, stability, and confidence while maintaining a sense of softness and ease. This masterclass offers practical tools and a functional approach that can be applied both on and off the mat, helping you build a healthier and more conscious relationship with backbends.

Name: Journey to Splits (EN)

Guest location: Yoga Nest Zentrum

Date: Saturday 30. May, 2026

Time: 14:00-16:30

Price: 79 CHF / SIGN UP

This 2.5-hour workshop is an in-depth exploration of front splits (Hanumanasana) and middle splits, approached in a functional, progressive, and body-intelligent way. Rather than chasing the final shape, this journey focuses on building the necessary strength, mobility, and awareness to move toward splits safely and sustainably. This is a complete practice, suitable for everyone—whether you are at the beginning of your journey toward splits or already able to access them and want to refine your approach. The focus is not on how far you go, but on how you get there. Through a functional vinyasa flow, we will gradually prepare the body by opening the hip flexors, hamstrings, and adductors, while developing stability and control in the pelvis and spine. Particular attention will be given to the role of the nervous system and to creating space without forcing or collapsing into end ranges. The workshop will also include specific drills and practical tools designed to support a personal and sustainable splits practice. These drills can be repeated over time and integrated into your own routine, offering a clear and effective pathway toward progress when practiced with consistency. This class emphasizes that splits are not just about flexibility. We will explore how active mobility, muscular engagement, and mindful loading allow the body to feel supported, resilient, and safe throughout the process. The goal is to cultivate ease, intelligence, and confidence in movement, respecting individual anatomy and personal limits. Whether splits are part of your regular practice or simply a curiosity, this workshop offers a functional approach that helps you build a healthier and more conscious relationship with hip mobility—on and off the mat.

Name: Beyond the Shape / Assisting in Yoga: Seated Asanas (EN)

Location: Yoga Nest Zentrum

Teacher: Guka

Date: Saturday, 6. June, 2026

Time: 14:00-16:30

Price: 79 CHF / SIGN UP

A practical workshop for teachers and dedicated practitioners

"Beyond the Shape" reflects the idea that a posture is more than how it looks, it’s about how it is felt, organised, and experienced from within. Assisting in yoga can take different forms. Sometimes it comes through clear and precise verbal cueing. Sometimes through observation and presence. And sometimes, with consent, through mindful hands-on assist. Over the years of teaching, I’ve seen how much the way we guide can influence a student’s experience. Often in subtle ways, a clearer direction, a greater sense of stability, or simply more ease in the body. This workshop explores assisting as a whole: how we guide, how we support, and how we respond to what is actually happening in front of us. You’ll develop a way of assisting that feels clear, respectful, and adaptable.
